2017 Terms, Conditions and Disclaimer for The Language House Spain SL Website

The Language House Spain SL takes care to ensure that the information on the website is up to date and accurate. However, errors can occur so you should always check with the school to verify facts and information.

 

Inscription and Course Payment

You can register for any of our group or private courses via the following methods:

Registration is completed following a deposit payment of 100€ which will be deducted from the total fee. Without the deposit The Language House cannot reserve a place on the course.

Payment can be made by:

  • Credit card, please contact us to arrange payment.
  • Bank Transfer: With this method of payment it is necessary to state the students’ name on the bank transfer and then send a copy of the receipt of payment to info@thelanguagehouse.es Please contact us for our account details.
  • Cash or bank card in person at the school.

A 100€ deposit must be made to reserve a place on one our courses and the rest of the fees must be paid at least two weeks before the course starts.

The participants are responsible for paying all bank charges.

 

Timetable and class schedule

Each class lasts for 55 minutes.

The maximum number of students in each class is 8 (except for DELE and our part-time classes where the maximum number is 6)

The intensive course classes are in the mornings with activities in the afternoon from Monday to Friday. There are no classes on bank holidays and no replacement classes or refund is available. Bank holidays in Spain are: 1st January, 6th January, 28th February, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, 1st May, 15th August, 12th October, 1st November, 6th December, 8th December and there are two local holidays each year. Please note that according to Spanish law, bank holidays that fall on a Sunday must be taken on the following Monday. The Language House does not offer courses from the 24th December until the 7th January. Please check with the school for exact dates before booking if you are not sure.

 

Early departures or Late Arrivals

The minimum stay for our intensive courses and homestay accommodation is 2 weeks. Late arrival or leaving early does not mean that there will be a discount or refund on the price of the course or the accommodation.

 

Accommodation

A week begins on the Sunday before the start of the course and ends on the following Saturday. (Guests must check out of their homestay by 12:00). Students must inform the school of any early arrival or late departure and any extra nights will be charged at a daily rate. (Prices depend on the type of accommodation).

Students will be sent all the corresponding information about their accommodation at least a week before their arrival. We can only confirm where students will be staying on receipt of the 100€ deposit. Whilst we do our best to meet all students’ requests, we cannot guarantee that it will be their 1st choice of accommodation.

All host families and their houses are checked by The Language House Spain.

All accommodation is no more than 30 minutes away by public transport or on foot. Journeys from the accommodation to the school or activities are unsupervised and students must have travel and medical insurance.

The following facilities are provided by host families:

  • All towels and bedding. These are changed weekly.
  • Laundry facilities. The students will be able to use the laundry facilities once a week.
  • Use of a bathroom (this may be private or shared).

Rules:

  • Students must keep their rooms tidy and clean.
  • Students may not bring visitors home without prior permission from the host family.
  • Students may not use the house phone.
  • Students must look after their housekey. If the key is lost, students are responsible for the cost of replacing it.
  • Any problems with a host family should be reported as soon as possible and The Language House will endeavour to resolve any issues as soon as possible.

Extras

  • Extra nights. If the student wishes to arrive early or leave after their course has finished, they will need to check availability with the school and pay for any extra days.
  • It is possible for students to bring people who are not enrolling on a course. They will need to pay for their accommodation and a 50€ admin fee if they wish to participate in any of the activities organised by The Language House Spain, that are included in the price of the course.

 

Cancellations

The Language House Spain SL cancellation conditions are:

For individual course bookings:

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the course: the total amount minus a 25€ admin fee will be refunded.

Cancellations made between 30 and 15 days before the course: the total amount minus the 100€ deposit will be refunded.

Cancellations made between 14 days and 3 days before the course: 20% of the total amount plus the 100€ deposit will be charged.

Cancellations made in the 2 days before the course: 50% of the total amount will be charged.

Cancellations made on the start day or after the first day of the course will be charged in full.

Group classes

Our group classes are made up of a minimum number of 3 students. If on the start day of the course, there are not the required minimum number of students, The Language House Spain will offer the student a reduced quantity of hours of private classes (maximum 2 people). The student will be informed on the first day.

One to one classes

Students must inform the school at least 24 hours before their scheduled private class. If the class is directly after a weekend or a holiday period, the student should notify the school on the previous working day. If the student informs the school within this period, they are entitled to recover the class. If not they lose that class.

Change of course

If the student wishes to make a change to the type of course or dates, they need to notify us by email or letter at least 2 weeks before the course is scheduled to begin.

If the student wishes to make a change when the course has already begun, they will be given the option of postponing the course, as long as they provide a justifiable reason for the change and proof to support this. However, we are unable to offer a refund. If the student needs to postpone the course, they would need to pay for their accommodation again.

If a student wishes to change their accommodation, they should notify The Language House as soon as possible and if the request is reasonable we will endeavour to make this change.

Extension of course

If a student wishes to extend their stay and length of course, this is possible as long as there are spaces available. The same condition applies to accommodation. Any extension to the course should be notified at least a week before the end of the course.

 

Activities

The Language House is happy to provide information to any of our students wishing to partake in activities that run alongside the language classes. Activities that are organised by outside companies are the responsibility of those companies. We introduce the students to these companies and we have chosen them carefully but we will not assume any responsibility of activities that are not undertaken on our premises.

 

Insurance

The Language House requires all students to take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of their stay with us. Students coming from the European Union should obtain the European Medical Insurance Card prior to leaving their home country.

The Language House its representatives, partners, and staff are not liable for any loss, damage, illness, or injury to persons or property however caused, except where such liability is imposed by statute. It is the student´s responsibility to take out personal insurance against all risks, including ability to attend or continue a course and insurance for the payment of medical expenses.

 

The motion of enrolling and attending a course implies the acceptance of all information and conditions enlisted on these pages.
